Just Using Snapchat, Home Cooks Can Now Scan Ingredients and Find Recipes from Allrecipes.

Simply scan your ingredients and you'll find recipes in an instant.

Thanks to Snapchat's new Food Scan function, finding a recipe has never been easier. Over 170 million Snapchat users use the Scan function every month to identify dog breeds, plants and trees, wine bottles, and more – now they can also scan actual culinary ingredients to discover recipes.

Snapchat has partnered with Allrecipes to help home cooks select recipes based on what they already have on hand. Simply set the item on a flat surface, open the main Snapchat camera panel, position the camera at the meal, and select Scan. The Scan function will offer up to five Allrecipes.com recipes that employ the food item right away.

Food Scan is a simple and quick method to find thousands of recipes for everything from weeknight dinners to holiday favorites. Over 1,000 foods, such as eggs, bananas, and bread, are recognized by the Food Scan function, which brings up appropriate recipes as well as Wikipedia information about the ingredient.

Because liquids and packaged items are not currently recognized, ingredients will need to be unboxed for the optimal Scan experience. Food Scan is now accessible to Snapchat users in the United States, and it will be a useful tool in the kitchen or at the grocery store.
